About Us

Aegis K12 was founded by Daniel De Jesus with the sole purpose of providing cybersecurity consulting services to educational institutions. With over 20 years of professional experience in various roles supporting technology in education, Daniel assumed a greater role in supporting cybersecurity over the last couple of years and saw first hand, the wave of targeted cyber attacks against schools. The mission became clear, create a service that could help school districts improve cybersecurity readiness in today's cyber threat landscape. With training, certifications, and practical experience in his current role supporting cybersecurity in K12, Daniel is dedicated to providing under-resourced school districts the help they need to maintain a high state of cyber readiness.

The word aegis finds its origin from Greek mythology.

"...the aegis was the magical breastplate (or shield) of Zeus, which he lent to his daughter Athena in honor of her role in principled warfare."

Mission

School districts are required to protect against cyber threats. Unfortunately, many small districts just don't have the means or dedicated cyber roles to achieve that requirement. Deploying an effective cyber program requires the application of a comprehensive security framework that covers all the facets of cybersecurity. That is where Aegis K12 can fill the gap. We'll help you develop and manage an effective cybersecurity program that will meet the required governance, risk management, and compliance standards. In essence, Aegis K12 is dedicated to building your shield to defend against cyber threats.

K-12 Focused

Aegis K12 leverages a NIST based security framework for education. This framework was developed by the Cybersecurity Coalition for Education and is directly aligned to the NIST CSF standards. To manage the framework, we use licensed open source GRC software which saves thousands of dollars for school districts. Using this strategy, Aegis K12 provides an effective and affordable solution for educational institutions to enhance their cybersecurity program and keep their schools cyber safe.
